I loved this book so much. I was led to it from a footnote in Dear Genius: The Letters of Ursula Nordsrom which was published in Maurice Sendak dedicated Caldecott & Co: Notes on Books & Pictures to his beloved editor Ursula Nordstrom, who died inthe year this book was published. BySendak had illustrated 70 books in twenty /5.
I haven't red the complete book yet, but have read the 2 essays on Mother Goose and R. Caldecott. Absolutely amazing writings on illustrators and their illustrations. Randolph Caldecott () was one of the most important British illustrators. He transformed the world of decorated children's books in the Victorian era.
